PASTURE-RAISED POULTRY

Our chickens start out in a spacious, airy brooder for the first three weeks of life. We receive the chicks at about 3 days of age, and at that point they need to be kept warm and out of the elements. After the chicks put on feathers, they are ready to transition to outside.

Once outside, the chickens are enclosed in a large shelter we like to call, a "chicken tractor." This keeps the chickens safe from predators. Once or twice a day, the chickens are rotated to fresh grass and forage under the sun. This gives our chickens a chance to roam, scratch, and snack until their hearts are content. In addition to the fresh forage, our chickens are fed locally sourced, non-GMO feed.

Being a small farm, we personally process all of our chickens on-farm, by hand.

Important takeaways:

  • No antibiotics or drugs ever.

  • From 3 weeks on, they are rotated daily on pasture

  • All-natural diet high in grass and bugs

  • Supported by non-GMO feed from local producers

  • Harvested and packaged humanely, by hand, on our farm under TN exemption

FORESTED PORK

Our heritage-breed hogs are forest and pasture raised. By moving them to new paddocks every week, it allows our pigs to have an all-natural diet high in grass, roots, nuts and other forage. Rotating them weekly allows our hogs to keep their instinctive "pigginess" by allowing them to roam and root, but also prevents their living area from becoming a mud pit. In addition to forage, they are supplementally fed with locally sourced, non-GMO feed.

Important takeaways:

  • No antibiotics or growth hormones

  • Rotated weekly to paddocks with fresh forage

  • All-natural diet high in grass, roots, nuts and forage

  • Supported by non-GMO feed from local producers

  • Harvested and packaged at a USDA certified processing facility

GRASS-FED LAMB

Our sheep are grass fed and rotated on pasture daily. This means that our sheep are not kept in a dirt feedlot. All of our lambs are born on farm from our closed herd, therefore we are in control of their diets from day one.

Important takeaways:

  • No antibiotics or growth hormones

  • Pesticide-free pasture

  • Rotated daily to new pasture

  • Harvested and packaged at a USDA certified processing facility
